von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort is an Austrian-inspired mountain resort on 2,600 acres in Stowe, Vermont, owned and operated by the von Trapp family of Sound of Music fame. The family purchased the hillside farm in 1942 and began welcoming guests in 1950; after a 1980 fire, they rebuilt the alpine lodge that anchors the property today.Guests stay in European-furnished rooms and suites with mountain views and enjoy year-round activities including cross-country skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and tours of von Trapp Brewing. The resort also features on-site dining and the well-known Bierhall, making it a landmark of Austrian-American hospitality in New England.
