Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe is an authentic German bakery, café, and delicatessen in Arlington, Virginia, baking European-style breads, cakes, pastries, and pretzels since 1975. Founded by Wolfgang and Carla Büchler, who brought crusty breads made with imported German flour to the Washington area, the shoppe has become a D.C. metro staple for ready-made and custom cakes, holiday stollen, cookies, and specialty German deli meats and cheeses.Visitors can take a number for bakery and deli service, enjoy a European cappuccino at the café tables, and pick up sandwiches, salads, and party trays. The shoppe is closed Mondays and keeps classic bakery hours Tuesday through Sunday at its Culpeper Street location near Lee Highway.
