Silke’s Old World Breads is a German bakery, cafe, and delicatessen on College Street in Clarksville, Tennessee. Silke and Tim began baking from home after the Army brought them from Germany to Clarksville in 1991; their still-active sourdough starter dates to 1995. The cafe opened in 2005, and the bakery and deli followed next door in 2012.Guests find hand-shaped German breads and rolls, tortes and pastries, Schnitzel sandwiches, vegetarian and vegan dishes, gluten-free choices, and a deli stocked with German meats, cheeses, and preserves. Cafe hours run Monday through Sunday; the bakery and deli close Sundays.
