One of Philadelphia’s oldest and largest German-American clubs, the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein was founded in 1873 to celebrate Swabian customs from Bad Cannstatt and to support charitable causes. More than 150 years later, the club still hosts its signature Labor Day weekend Volksfest, maintains a biergarten and dining program, and offers halls for weddings and private events for groups from about 30 to 600 guests. The club motto, Furchtlos und Treu, reflects a long tradition of German heritage and community service in Northeast Philadelphia.
