About the class
This is a hands-on class. We will actually be making and decorating cookies together. We will walk you through all the steps.
Pre-paid e-tickets are required to enter. We do not allow walk-ins. We are not open to the public.
Note: Please wear clothes you won’t mind getting a little dirty.
Note: Proof of vaccination is required.
About the Cooking Items
Christmas Cookies — We will be making a few varieties based on generations old family recipes from the alpine regions of southern Bavaria (Allgäu to be specific).
Also, check out some of our items in the Kellerskammer. These are listed separately as add-ons and you can buy them and take them with you.
About the Home Chef – Hans of the Bauernküche @ Dahoam1516 (Alameda)
Founder of Dahoam1516, Master Chef and Braumeister, Hans is dedicated to keeping the finest of Bavarian cuisine and traditions accessible to anyone here in Alameda.
Hans attended culinary classes in Bavaria and the United States. He has worked at several restaurants and operates a small home-based catering service and Brewhouse.
What you need to know
Things are casual and come-as-you-are. The class lasts about 3+ hrs and we start on time. There is lots of time for socializing and learning as there are many natural breaks.
The class will be indoors. We ask that you mask as you feel is necessary and remain vigilant around places where knives and cooking pots are in use. We want to keep everyone safe.
Food is available during the class from our Bauernküche and can be purchased as an add-on item to your ticket. All of our beers and food items are made in-house, in a food-handling certified kitchen.
Beer samples are also available as we will be discussing beer pairings with the items we are preparing.
Note: We do not sell our beers nor allow them offsite, but we “sample” very liberally.
How to Find Us
We are 1 block from the main public transit lines (Stanton St stop serves AC Transit Transbay “O” from Salesforce Transit Center and the “51A” from downtown Oakland, Park St., and Fruitvale BART).
We are down Powers Ct from the corner of Lincoln Ave and Powers Ct. At the corner you will see our sign, follow our Friendship Garden down to the Red Gate and the Maypole/Flagpole with the Bavarian and Alameda flags.
Who we are and what we do
Dahoam1516 is a private social club and school at an exclusive venue with a small private-label Brewhouse, Bier- & Hopfgarten, and numerous cozy outdoor seating areas. We are not a brew pub or commercial brewery.
We offer small-format classes in homebrewing and cooking with a focus on small-batch recipes and hearty Bavarian fare. We also host select social/cultural events at our unique event space several times a year.
Our classes are also available in a “we come to you” Experiences format for small groups. Great for an office teambuilding event or a unique extended family gathering. And our event space is available for rent for your special event.
We are not able to sell alcohol or allow it off-premise.
We do not have off-street parking but there is ample street parking and we are 1 block away from Alameda’s main bus routes. We ask you to always be considerate of our neighbors. When you exit, please be noise conscious.

COVID Fine Print
Upon arriving, you will be asked your name and/or to show us your e-ticket (print out or on phone). Then we need to:
- have you provide proof of vaccination;
- have you answer some COVID-19 questions(4);
- have you sign our COVID-19 waiver
Masks are encouraged but not required in the venue…use your “covid-sense.”
Note: If you have been recently exposed to COVID-19 or even suspect it, please do not come….we are offering a 24-hr in advance full refund. Let’s keep everyone safe.
Due to COVID-19, we are limiting our class sizes, limiting the number of tickets available, and asking people to keep to groups of less than 3. If you have a larger group, send us an email and we can discuss our other options.
