Founded in 1878 as the Sozialer Männerchor, the German-American Club Gesangverein of Louisville is a volunteer-run club that perpetuates German culture through its choir and year-round events. Its purpose is to promote German sociability, group singing of German songs, and preservation of German heritage in Louisville.
